The sardinero groups are the soul of the celebration and they escort the sardine to it’s funeral. More than 350 people divided into 23 groups have the responsibility to bring the party to town with street music and colourful clothes giving out toys and happiness. Each one of these groups are called after a Roman or Greek god or mythological characters.

“This celebration is all about joy and generosity, two characteristics about Murcia’s people.”
